LCMC Volunteer Instructor/Tutor: (posted November 2009)

The Literacy Council of Montgomery County will be forming a group at Chase Partnership House, a shelter for men battling addiction.  These men have made a voluntary commitment to live on site and attend classes to help them towards sobriety.  This group will begin on Wednesday, November 11th at Chase Partnership House on Gude Dr in Rockville.  The first session will be a meet and greet from 7-8 PM.  Every Wednesday thereafter will go from 6:30-8:00 PM.  We have 3 trained tutors who are eager to assist in this effort.  However, we need a lead instructor to lead a short warm up activity with the group (10-15 men).  Then we plan to break into groups based on topic of interest (writer’s workshop, job skills, reading for pleasure, etc.).  The lead instructor may choose whether to oversee all of our groups or take a group for themselves.  This is a volunteer position, but should be a very rewarding experience.  If you are interested in this position or have questions, please contact Mike Trageser: mike@literacycouncilmcmd.org or 301-610-0030.
