Instructor position - Rockville Senior Center English Program

The Rockville Senior Center English Program in Rockville, Maryland is seeking an enthusiastic instructor for the basic, beginning English class that meets Monday and Wednesday mornings during three, 10-week sessions from September through June.

The Program focuses on English for Everyday Life, using ESOL texts, newspapers and pronunciation resources to teach speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills to learners over age 60 from a variety of cultural, language and educational backgrounds.

This is an opportunity to work with dedicated students who appreciate the safe and supportive environment in which English becomes a valuable tool for making new friends, participating in the community and acclimating to a new culture.

Qualified applicants should have training and experience teaching ESOL and assessing learner progress at the appropriate level, be engaging communicators, and be comfortable working with a team serving a diverse senior population.  Some experience with Color Vowel Chart pronunciation is desirable.

Note: this is a paid, contractor – not City of Rockville – position.  Please send inquires and letters of interest/resumés by August 4, 2016 to Dunya Hecht, Program Manager:
