MCAEL wanted to extend this message from CASA de Maryland who is coordinating the National Immigrant Integration Conference this year. This is an exciting local opportunity! Please continue reading...

Note: If instructors or provider staff are interested in attending, please remember that there are awards through the Dr. Deborah Bhattacharyya Professional Development Award Fund that could help individuals with some of the financial aspect of attending.
Dear Colleague
As an educator, you know firsthand the challenges immigrants face in our country’s educational system but you also know the tremendous rewards we all reap when an immigrant achieves academic success.
Your experience and perspective are crucial to strengthening America’s immigrant integration systems for a stronger democracy and society for all. For this reason, I’d like to extend an invitation to you to attend the National Immigrant Integration Conference (NIIC 2012) this September 22-25 in Baltimore, Maryland.
As the host organization for this year’s conference, my colleagues and I are honored to be joined by an inspirational lineup of guest speakers that includes Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, Assistant Attorney General of the U.S. Department of Justice Tom Perez, Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education Brenda Dann-Messier, and Director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Alejandro Mayorkas.
We’re working with the National Partnership for New Americans to develop a conference agenda with seven distinct tracks, including one focused on education, that will move the dialogue beyond the border enforcement headlines to a conversation about real solutions that put immigrants on a path to becoming active members of the U.S. communities they call home.
Please read more in the email below about the seven tracks. And to hear more about the conference, please visit our homepage (http://www.integrationconference.org/) to sign up for updates, or click here to register now.
NIIC 2012 is a unique opportunity to meet with immigrant advocates and allies across the spectrum of work and academia, and we invite you to take advantage of it.
I truly hope that you will join us and lend your voice to the conversation!
