Do More 24: Learning English Opens Doors

Three great things MCAEL wants to share with you.
First, on June 6 I ask you to take a minute out of your day to show your support for MCAEL and all of our providers, instructors and learners.  We are participating (along with over 800 other local non-profits) in "DO MORE 24 -One Day. One Community."  Mark your calendar and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and our web page.
What do we need you to do?
2. Ask 5 friends, colleagues, neighbors to make a gift too - spread the word to your own networks via Facebook, Twitter, email, etc. - you'll be able to pass on the messages that we send out very easily.  Do More 24. Learning English Opens Doors.  Our goal is to get 100 new MCAEL supporters and to raise $10,000.
Second, a big thank you to County Executive Ike Leggett and the County Council for recommending and approving significant increases to our budget for Fiscal Year 2014.  The recommended increases are for additional adult literacy services and for reducing wait lists. We are appreciative of the additional support for both the coalition's infrastructure as well as the increased funds for capacity building grants.
Third, just about a year ago, I joined this strong and diverse coalition.  During the past year I have met many of you (but not all - let me know if you would like to get together, or if you have comments or questions), visited some classes, heard learner success stories, and been excited and inspired about the quality of work that we all do to support English learners in Montgomery County.  Thank you all for all of your work and support, especially to the MCAEL staff, Heather Ritchie and Kelly Johnson, and the MCAEL Board.
