    • Ideas Flowing Like Coffee

      - Kathy Stevens

      Executive Director, MCAEL

      06/23/2023

If you slept in this morning, you missed a dynamic Coffee with Kathy conversation. The ideas were flying -- we discussed in-person vs. on-line ESOL classes, technology training, research, how to teach ESOL learners who are not literate in their home language, and employer-based ESOL classes.

Kevin and Cecilia from Community Reach talked about their summer class registration and on-line instruction -- and how Chat GPT can be used. Linda from Covenant Life Church asked great questions about teaching low literacy students (and it was so wonderful to hear that she comes to all of the MCAEL trainings!). And, what a pleasure to have Sarah Caccico from the Adult Learning & Literacy Impact Network join us today. ALL IN is a collective impact effort, committed to working together to achieve a shared vision: a country where every adult can easily access high-quality, effective support to improve their reading, writing, digital, and numeracy skills.

If you missed today, don’t worry. We’ll be hosting more Coffee with Kathy opportunities to connect with fellow instructors, program managers and other MCAEL network participants.

Our next Coffee with Kathy will be on July 21, 8:00am – 10:00am, location TBD. See you there!
