MCAEL is the hub of the coalition

We bring English language service providers together to learn and share, driving a system of continuous improvement.

MCAEL provides

English language program administrators and instructors from diverse organizations with professional development opportunities, and fosters peer sharing that cultivates continuous learning.

MCAEL collects

and uses data to identify where additional adult English language classes are needed and to measure the impact of these classes in the community.

MCAEL leverages

resources and funding to implement a thoughtful, coordinated approach to have the greatest outcomes for an ever-increasing number of immigrant adults.

MCAEL maintains and builds the system for all adult English language learning in Montgomery County.

MCAEL is a community coalition of public, nonprofit, and business partners that support over 60 adult ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and literacy service programs, more than 1,300 instructors and staff, and approximately 16,000 adult learners -- with a goal of serving all 134,000 adults in the County that would benefit from English language learning. Together, the coalition works to strengthen the community by helping adults gain the English literacy skills needed to reach their potential as parents, workers, and community members.
